5th Period: Magical Movie Moments

Movies, like books, can sometimes affect people in many ways. The above clip is a scene from Sophie's Choice.   In this scene, the main character is entering a concentration camp, and she must choose which child to save.  This is an incredibly moving scene.  A mother must decide which child will live (for now) and which will die at the hands of the Nazis.  She cannot chose until the very last moment.  I can't imagine making that choice.  What would I do?  If I survived the camp, how would I live with the guilt?  The sense of overwhelming hopelessness and terror of the scene consume me every time I watch it.

Think of some movies that have affected you in some way. What is one powerful movie moment? Why is it so powerful? How does it affect you when you see it? Why?
