This scene shows the ship sinking and people scrambling to escape. Instead of fleeing the ship, the musicians decide to play and go down with the ship. While they are playing, there are scenes of others preparing to die with the ship. The song they are playing, "Nearer my God to Thee," makes the scene even more poignant as the people are, in fact, preparing to meet their maker. This scene brings tears to my eyes whenever I see it. The musicians are so brave, playing to give people a last bit of peace as the ship goes down. I think to myself, Would I be brave enough to face death as calmly as these people are? What would I do if on the Titanic? Imagine how afraid they are.
Think of some movies that have affected you in some way. What is one powerful movie moment? Why is it so powerful? How does it affect you when you see it? Why?
